Stop fighting it!!

Never in my life have I met a child who refuses to take medicine as much as my middle daughter does. She is unbelievable. I had to take her to the emergency room last night because her throat had a bunch of tiny red dots on it. I had never seen anything like that and so I freaked out a bit. Turns out she has strep throat and was running a fever.

This morning, as I am attempting to give her the medicine, she not only fights me to take it in the first place but she ended up spitting it all over herself. TWICE! I had to dunk her in the tub and wash it off her because it was sticky and everywhere! Oh, the frustration!! Thank goodness she only has to be on the antibiotics for a couple days. But now she's refusing to swallow, so she's drooling all over herself and she's refusing to open her mouth to talk or anything. I don't get it at all. It's a never-ending battle with her this morning. Hopefully, she won't fight me so much tomorrow. It's only once a day medicine so I'm not going to try again today. But in the morning, the fight will resume.

Does your son or daughter fight you to take their medicine when they are sick? Any tips or tricks you would care to share? I know I can mix some medicines in her drink, but she always seems to taste it and then refuses the drink. It's almost as if she would prefer to just stay sick and miserable. Suck it up girl!

Thanks for reading and ALL comments and tips/tricks are welcome!

It's gonna get mushy!

I'm so proud of my girls this week! Paige got a lot of recognition at her awards ceremony including Honor Roll and Brooke did great in her little musical performance! She is so shy though! It's so very cute to watch. She was singing along with the music but she wasn't doing any of the dance moves. I'm still a very proud mama though! It's hard for me to believe that Paige is advancing into the fourth grade and Brooke will be starting kindergarten! It's crazy! And to top it all off, Myles just turned 3 years old yesterday!

Paige with her certificate.

Brooke after the show.

Cupcakes and ice cream for the birthday boy!

 Paiges certificate

Two of the shirts we bought Myles.

Ok, that's enough of the pictures.

I just wanted to show off my kids and tell you all how amazingly awesome they are! I'm so proud of all of them. I teared up a bit at Brookes' school today, it's sad to think of how fast they grow up!           The teachers pointed out today that Brookes' class is the "Graduating Class of 2025" and I had never felt older in my life. It's depressing.

I love all my babies so much.

Alright. That's it. Thanks for reading!

Peace Out!

Kill me now

It's the last week of school! Can I get a hip-hip-hooray?!?!
This week seriously wears me out just by looking at the calendar.  Here's what we have going on.
Monday (Today)- Last Girl Scout meeting
Tuesday- Myles 3rd Birthday! Award ceremony for Paige at school.
Wednesday- Brookes' End of the Year Celebration party at her school.
Thursday- Last day of school! Girl Scout end of the year party.
Friday- Nothing (Day to REST! And prepare for the party.)
Saturday- Little Mans birthday party!
Sunday- Girl Scout field trip to the ZOOOOOOOO!!! (Hell yeah! So excited! I freaking LOVE the zoo!)

Are you as tired as I am just thinking about it all? Good grief.

And now for a subject change.
Awesome.

My sunflowers. The ones I planted a few weeks back. Well, I'm starting to give up. I think my black thumb has reared its' ugly head again or something because nothing is happening (at all) with those damn seeds. I had two sprouts, now only one. Don't ask me what happened to the other one because I have no idea. It just disappeared. And the one I do have is growing, or has been growing just fine. But something has once again eaten the little bitty petals on it. It's starting to make me mad. Guess maybe I should bring it in at night or something. I don't know what's going on (or not going on) with the other seeds I planted. Why wouldn't they have sprouted by now? Can the seeds be bad? Is that even an option? I can't figure it out. But I'm about ready to give up and plant something else. I have a few packs of seeds, can't remember what they are though and I don't feel like getting up to find them right now either. So. Whatever. Don't judge me. I'm allowed to be lazy from time to time.

Anyway. Thanks for reading.

My Idiot Dog

You know how kids know right from wrong but when they choose to do what's "wrong" they will look at you to see if you are watching them first. Kinda smart. They want to make sure they can get away with it. Which usually doesn't happen, but you kinda have to give them an "A" for effort, in a sense anyway.
Well, I just realized that one of our idiot dogs, Krumb, does the same thing! Our dogs know "right" from "wrong" too, just like the kids. And in the same sort of ways, Krumb will look at me to see if I'm watching before he does something stupid. Like tonight, after dinner, I was slacking and didn't clear the table right away. God forbid (I know!) But my idiot dog decided that it was OK to knock one of the plates off the table to finish eating what the kids had left behind. Bad idea. It's funny though because I didn't lay a single finger on him, and usually I would, but he knew he was wrong, I could see it in his eyes. Then, not even an hour later, I find him laying on my pillow in my bed! Oh hell to the no! I don't mind the dogs in my bed, even with the dirt, sand and hair left behind. I can handle it. But you will not lay your dirty little ass on my pillow!! And the second that I walked into the bedroom and spotted him, I shot him a dirty look and then he got up and off the bed. Didn't have to say a single word. Good dog, right? Well, no. He knows Mama doesn't like him sleeping on my pillow, but like the kids, he wanted to see if he could get away with it. And he did, for a few minutes anyway.

Our dogs, Bowzer is on the left (he's the smart one) and Krumb is on the right (he's the idiot)

A mothers' limits are always being tested.

For the love of Pinterest!

Found this. Fell in love. Had to share.

I hope you love it, too!

Proud Mama Moment

So my eldest daughter took the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) for the first time a few weeks back. She was so nervous about the test because the school administration puts so much pressure on these kids to do well so the school can have an "A" grade. She was scared to death that she was going to fail the FCAT test and be held back in third grade next year. Thankfully, I was right and she had nothing to worry about! She passed!! She got a 3 on the Reading part of the test and a 4 on the Math part. Any score above a 1 passes and 5 is the highest you can get. So she did well. We are very proud of her! We're going to have to do something this weekend to celebrate! My baby girl is so smart, she's going to be President one day, so watch out! Mama loves you hunny!

Rockin' the Arts

Last night, we had to attend a "Rockin' the Arts" performance at Paiges' school. I felt like such as ass though because I completely and undeniably forgot about the whole freakin' thing! I thought it was next week! Oh well. We made it there! She did a great job! As did everyone else! Artwork covered every inch of the walls in the cafeteria, and the music part of the show opened with some 5th graders playing a few songs on the violin. Man, I was impressed! They were so good! That's such a hard instrument to play (from what I hear anyway.) Paige had a few different parts in the show last night. At one point she was playing the xylophone and singing and then she was dancing on stage with the "Jive" dancers! She was so cute!

She makes me one proud mama!

Time flies when you're having fun

So, it just dawned on me last night that my baby boys birthday is 3 weeks away from today! Oh my goodness! Where has the time gone? I can't believe my BABY BOY is about to be THREE years old! Time flies when you're having fun! Seems like only yesterday he split me in two and said "Hello World!"

Here he is only a few days old. His shirt reads "I have my Mommas looks and my Daddy's gas"

I remember being so nervous about having a son. I wasn't sure I would know what to do because I only had girls up until then. Everything was sorta different, but in a good way. It was definitely a learning experience for me. Having a son is the absolute best part of me. My girls are too, of course, but with my son it's just different. He is my baby boy. Always will be. He is growing so fast though.

Last week at Steak-n-Shake.
My silly boy. I love him so much!

I guess it's time to start planning a birthday party for my little man. I wonder what theme he will want. Cars?  Umizoomi? Woody? The possibilities are endless! I love party planning!

My evil spawn

In typical Monday fashion, my evil spawns are out in full force today! More irritating than ever today. I guess the girls knew I was talking about them because Brooke just yelled that Paige got her wet. Are you serious? This child is sitting in a pool (of water) and complaining that her big sister just got her wet. Un-freakin-believable. The nerve of some people, I mean really. How dare Paige get her wet. It has been like this all day long for me. First is was just me and my cranky Bubba-man, but now that the girls are home from school- it's seriously like a World War. Someone is screaming and yelling about something and the other ones are fighting, no one can agree on anything, it's just fighting, screaming and one pissed off mama non-stop.
Oh, wait. What was that sound? Was that just laughter? Oh. My. God. It was. Wow, that's impressive. That's the first time I've heard that sound all day. I think it was Paige who laughed, probably at Brooke. At least they are getting along. For now anyways.
And there it is. "Ahhhhhhhhhh" coming from Paige in this blood curdling scream. Fun is over.
It's times like these that make me think back to a friend of mine, who has a four year old son, she is always telling me that she doesn't know how I handle having three kids when she goes crazy with her one sometimes. I just laugh it off and say that I don't know how I do it either. I really don't. There are times when I wanna smack them all for being so ignorant, or inconsiderate, or whatever it maybe. But I don't. I love them though, as irritating as they are.

Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

I remember as a child saying that there was a tiger in my belly when I was hungry. You could hear him roar! I think my mom initiated the whole thing and it just stuck with me. Well, earlier today I heard my sons' belly rumble, so I naturally asked him if he was hungry. He told me no. I went on to say that I heard the tiger in his belly roar because it was hungry and then I said he needed to feed the tiger before it got angry. Oh my goodness, the look on his little face was just too much! He started to freak out! He was yelling at me telling me that there was not a tiger in his belly because it would eat him. It was seriously so hard not to laugh, he was dead serious! So of course I told him it was a nice tiger and most certainly would not be eating him. After some more reassurance from yours truly he calmed down. And finally ate. But it was seriously adorable! I didn't expect to have him react the way he did, it never bothered the girls when I said it to them. Oh well. No harm, no foul, right?

Pinterest, thank you

Found these on Pinterest and wanted to share them with you all.

Everyone Poops

Today seems more like a Monday than a Tuesday. Tuesdays are suppose to be "good" days unlike the typical "bad" Mondays. But today seriously sucks. It's only ten in the morning, and so far today I've already had a fight with my huni, gotten a busted lip from my son and now I'm stressing because I have no money to put gas in the car, so now I am not sure how I am going to be able to pick the girls up from school later. This sucks. WTF is wrong with you Tuesday?! What are you thinking? I thought we were friends. Guess I was wrong.

And now my son is bouncing up and down and walking on his tippy toes in hopes of stopping the inevitable, which is just going to the bathroom. Silly boy, when will you learn? Everyone poops. Stop fighting it. So now it looks like most of my day will be spent in the bathroom trying to get you to poop. Thanks. If  you weren't so damn cute, I don't know what I would do. That cute card does wonders for you, son.

This is seriously how I feel today.

I wish it were that simple.

Lord, Have Mercy!

I thought the WHOLE purpose of Mother's Day was to celebrate Mom and all the great things that she does... so why won't my brats stop aggravating me? Good grief! I thought this was suppose to be the one sure fire day of the year that my kids are suppose to be little angels. I shouldn't have to yell, or scream, or get mad or anything like that, they should be waiting on me hand and foot. I should have been left alone this morning so that for once I could actually sleep in. Are they doing any of those things? No. Of course not. I'm still responsible for cleaning the living room which they have COMPLETELY destroyed after cleaning it once already. I still have to finish the laundry and clean the kitchen AND cook dinner for us all. And they still woke me up at the butt crack of dawn. A mother's job is never done, and that's why I say next year we protest.

Screw Mother's Day.
I want a Mother's Week!

Just sayin'.

The only difference between yesterday and today for me is that today I got presents. Lots of them. I love my babies and they love me. They drive me insane but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy Mother's Day!

Who's a proud Mom? This Mom!

Yesterday, my oldest daughter Paige bridged from being a Brownie Scout to a Junior Scout! I'm so proud of her!

She also received special recognition for being the top cookie seller of her Troop. She sold 251 boxes of cookies! Way to go, Paige! As impressive as that may sound, there were two girls yesterday who also received an award for selling over 1,000 boxes each! Now that's impressive! I don't think I could have handled that, I almost lost my mind with the 250 we sold!

Paige is on the far left and the 2 girls in green vests are the ones who sold over 1,000 boxes!

I'm such a proud Mama! I took over one hundred photos yesterday for the scrapbook I am going to make Paige! I will also be making one for our Troop. Which is fine by me of course because I love making scrapbooks! And I found a Girl Scout scrapbook on sale for $3 at Big Lots the other day! (Yay!)

Some of the girls in her Troop

After the ceremony we took the girls out for ice cream to celebrate! It was a perfect hot and sunny day for it too!

Best ice cream in town!

So, all in all yesterday was a great day! I'm proud of my "baby" girl. She's growing so fast!

Mom Vs. Dad

Why is it that when Mom goes to the store to pick something up really quick, like a gallon of milk, soda, bread, whatever it is, before heading out the door she will always say "Honey, can you watch the kids while I run to the store?" But, when Dad runs to the store- he doesn't ask us, the Moms, to watch the kids. Why is that? Why do we as the Moms feel the need to ask the Dads to watch their OWN kids for a minute? It's so ridiculous. It's bad enough that we can't piss, shit or shower alone but now we're asking you to babysit your own child/children while we run out for just a couple minutes? Un-freakin-believable. And then, on top of that, I learn that it's now OK for the Dad to go out with friends after work, because he's the one working and paying the bills, he needs a time-out with his friends. I completely agree. But when is it our turn? I know I would certainly love some free time away from the kids. Who's game? Where do I sign up? Seriously. Let's do this! If Dad can go out and play, why can't Mom? Oh, wait, that's right. Because she always has a child up her ass. Literally. No wonder we are always being called a "bitch" I would be willing to put the whole paycheck that I don't receive for babysitting our kids on the fact that you would be called a "bitch" if you had a kid stuck up your rear-end all day and night too. I'm just sayin'.

Pucker up Buttercup

One sure fire way to piss off a stay at home mother is to act like her "job" isn't important and what she does doesn't matter because she doesn't bring home a paycheck. Seriously? Being a stay at home mom is not a walk in the park, sure you don't really have to get dressed if you don't want to and you don't have to report to an office or punch a timecard. But that doesn't give someone the right to belittle someone because they don't get paid for their services.

Lets see, for me, a typical day starts at 6:00am and ends usually around 10:00pm. In between there, I'm getting kids up and ready for school, taking them to school and then coming home to clean house and take care of the toddler who isn't in school. Then, it's lunchtime and naptime. After that, we're off to the school to pick up one daughter, then not even an hour later we're off again to pick up the other one. Then we have homework, dinnertime and bathtime. Then there's alittle bit of time to relax and settle down for the night before doing it all over again the very next day. And the day after that. And the day after that. And lets not forget to figure in trips to the store and errands that need to be taken care of, because, lets face it - Mom is the only one who can and will do it. Also, there is "the list" of things to do or things that need to be done that is always in the back of my mind, you know the one telling you not to forget the milk again at the store, wondering if you forgot to pay a certain bill, what's for dinner?, what's for breakfast?, Hell, anything for lunch? It's a never-ending list of reminders. And it never goes away. I carry so much weight on me everyday all day, that it's amazing I can stand up, which I do ALL DAY LONG typically because if I sit down someone is going to ask me to get up and do something or get something or something period AND if they don't and I actually get to sit there - it just feels so... wrong. Like I should be doing something else, anything else, besides sitting down.

So I think you can get my point. Maybe. Maybe not. But until you have ever been a "stay at home mom" you can't really judge me or anyone else who is. I remember when I was little all I wanted to do was be a mom and stay home with my kids while Dad did the work and paid the bills. I don't regret my decision and neither should you. And for all those nay sayers out there, pucker up and kiss it.

Take that Black Thumb!

In general, I suck at growing anything beautiful in a garden. I try, really hard, but somehow for some unknown reason - Everything ends up dead. It's really quite sad. However, my mom gave us some sunflower seeds and what do you think happened to those poor defensless seeds? They grew! Hell yeah! And they are still growing! One of them has what appears to be the makings of a beautiful flower on it! It's so exciting!
So I say, "Take that Black Thumb!"

Here's a pic so you can see how tall they have gotten.

And one so you can see the magic that is taking place!

The kids have been so great at helping to make sure we water the plants everyday. Brooke is especially excited to see one starting to bloom. And everyday after school she reminds me that the flowers are as tall as bean stalks! God she is too cute!

Get off me!

Why is it that the very second you sit down to do something, i.e this blog, the kids need you for this, or need you for that. OR they want to climb all over you, like my son Myles is. It's so aggravating! I swear it's as if the kids don't even know Dad exists at times. He's right there! Go ask him! Sheesh! Get off me!!!!!! It drives me bonkers! Don't get me wrong I love all three of my amazingly gorgeous children but when mama is trying to do something or talking on the phone, leave me the hell alone and/or ask dad. It's really quite simple but yet they make it seem as if it's impossible.
Here is a recent picture of my livelihood.
I told you my kids were amazingly gorgeous! And Dad isn't too bad either! ;)

Now that I've had a bit of a rant, I should probably warn you that this new blog of mine might see a lot of that. Not too much though, can't have the whole Internet knowing that I'm a crazy bish. Or can I?

Pardon my ADD but I feel the need to change the subject.
I started this blogger page yesterday after talking with a good friend of mine who gave me the push to do so. After some time and lots of scavenging on the web I started this one. With all the millions of people who have blogs and do it regularly, I feel like a really small fish in a big fucking ocean! Some blogs focus mainly on one subject while others have lots of topics. I'm not sure which is best for me, I do have a lot of interests, some of which I don't think I know enough about to really "blog" about it. The ONE thing that I know I'm good at is being a Mom. The Mom. That is my job and I do it well. But I don't want to limit myself to just a female audience. So I find myself conflicted. It will be interesting though to see how this all comes about. My page will be a work in progress for the next couple of days I'm sure.

OK, so I think I am done for now. I hope you liked what you read. Feel free to comment, and make sure to follow me on twitter here: https://twitter.com/#!/iamshellfish

Thanks!
